Terms and Conditions
Effective date: 20 June 2026 — Version: 1.1.0
These terms govern your use of the Livo mobile application and the services it offers. By tapping "Sign in" or otherwise using Livo, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Livo.
For questions, write to legal@livo.africa.
1. Acceptance and age
By using Livo you confirm that:
- You are at least 13 years old to use Livo as a general user.
- You are at least 18 years old to register as a driver, restaurant operator, or event host.
- You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement under the law of the country where you live.
- The information you provide about yourself is accurate.
If you use Livo on behalf of an organisation (a restaurant, an event venue), you confirm that you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
2. What Livo is — and what it is not
Livo is a community marketplace that helps people find each other for rides, restaurant visits, and events. We provide the platform that connects users to providers.
Livo is NOT:
- A transport operator. We do not own vehicles, employ drivers, or carry passengers. Drivers operate independently.
- A restaurant operator. Restaurants on Livo are independent businesses.
- An event organiser. Events on Livo are organised by their hosts.
- A payment processor. Livo does not currently handle payments. Money for rides, meals, or events flows directly between you and the provider, outside the app.
When you use a service listed on Livo, you enter a contract directly with the provider — not with Livo.
3. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account login (your Google account) secure
- Everything that happens under your account
- The accuracy of any listing you create or contribution you make
- Telling us promptly if your account is compromised — email support@livo.africa
We may suspend or close your account if you violate these terms, harm other users, or use Livo unlawfully. If we suspend your account, we will tell you why unless legally prohibited.
3A. Data, privacy, and analytics
Your use of Livo is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
By using Livo you acknowledge that, to operate and improve the service, we collect usage and analytics data automatically — including which screens and features you use, app version, device type, and basic performance/diagnostics — using Google Analytics for Firebase. This collection happens as a normal part of using the app and does not require a separate opt-in. We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and ship no advertising identifier. Full detail of what we collect, why, and the legal bases (including legitimate interest for analytics) is in the Privacy Policy, along with how to object or delete your account.
4. Acceptable use
When using Livo you must not:
- Pretend to be someone you are not
- Post listings that are false, misleading, illegal, dangerous, or discriminatory
- Harass, threaten, or harm other users
- Use Livo for illegal activity (including unlicensed transport for hire, unlicensed food service, or any activity prohibited by local law)
- Scrape, copy, or systematically extract data from Livo
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass security features
- Disrupt the service (overload, attack, abuse our systems)
- Sell, transfer, or share your account with anyone else
We may remove any content and suspend any account that breaches this section.
5. Provider obligations
If you offer a listing on Livo (a ride, a restaurant, an event), you agree to additional obligations:
For drivers:
- Hold a valid driver's licence in the country where you drive
- Carry valid vehicle insurance and registration
- Comply with all road traffic laws and any local rules for paid transport (taxi, e-hailing, ride-share, lift-club)
- Disclose to passengers if you are operating informally rather than as a licensed taxi
For restaurants:
- Hold any food-trade and health licences required by local authorities
- Display accurate prices, hours, and location
- Honour reasonable bookings made through Livo
For event hosts:
- Hold any permits, licences, or insurance required for your event
- Display accurate event details (date, time, address, age restriction, ticket terms)
- Honour the event as advertised
You — not Livo — are responsible for complying with the law that applies to your service. Livo is a platform that surfaces your listing; we do not endorse, certify, inspect, or guarantee any listing or provider.
6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Livo connects users to providers. Livo does not deliver the service itself.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- We provide the Livo platform "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind.
- We do not warrant that providers are reliable, that listings are accurate, that the service will be uninterrupted, or that the app is free of bugs.
- We are not responsible for the conduct of any user, driver, restaurant, or event host. Disputes between users and providers must be resolved between those parties.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profit, data, or goodwill.
- Where local consumer law gives you rights that cannot be waived (Lei nº 22/2009 in Mozambique, the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 in South Africa, Lei nº 15/03 in Angola), nothing in these terms limits those rights.
If you suffer harm because of a ride, a meal, or an event, your claim is against the provider — not Livo. We will, where reasonable, help you contact the provider and may share relevant information with authorities investigating a serious incident.
7. Payments
Livo does not currently process payments.
- For rides: drivers and riders agree on a fee directly. Livo may show suggested ranges. Payment happens between the driver and rider, outside the app.
- For restaurants and events: payment happens directly with the provider, in the venue or by the provider's own payment method.
- Livo does not earn a commission on transactions at this time.
If we introduce in-app payments in future, we will update these terms and notify you before the change takes effect.
8. Intellectual property
The Livo name, logo, app design, and code are owned by Livo and its founders. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership to you.
You retain ownership of content you post on Livo (listings, reviews, photos). By posting, you grant Livo a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display that content within the Livo service for as long as your content remains on the platform. You can withdraw a piece of content at any time by deleting it; the licence ends when you do.
9. Termination
You can stop using Livo at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account & Privacy.
We can suspend or terminate your access if:
- You breach these terms
- We are required to by law
- Your activity poses a risk to other users or to Livo
- Livo permanently shuts down (we will give reasonable notice)
Termination does not cancel obligations you have already incurred to other users (e.g. an unpaid ride fee).
10. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Mozambique, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
For disputes between you and Livo:
- First, talk to us. Email legal@livo.africa and describe the issue. We will respond within 30 days and try to resolve it informally.
- If informal resolution fails, the dispute will be referred to arbitration seated in Maputo, Mozambique, conducted in Portuguese or English, under the rules of the Centro de Arbitragem, Conciliação e Mediação (CACM) or any successor body.
- Mandatory consumer rights are preserved. If you are a consumer in South Africa, Mozambique, or Angola, nothing in this section deprives you of rights that the consumer law of your country requires to be available to you. You may bring a claim before the courts of your country if local law so requires.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The current version and effective date are at the top of this page.
If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before continuing to use Livo. If you do not accept, you can delete your account; your data will be handled per the Privacy Policy.
